About the Opportunity
Kwacha Farms and Agro Dealer Enterprise is seeking a skilled, experienced, and driven Farm Manager to lead its agricultural operations. This role involves comprehensive oversight of crop production, staff management, farm operations, and financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
Crop Production & Management
- Develop and execute seasonal crop production strategies.
- Oversee planting schedules, irrigation, fertilization programs, and crop rotation practices.
- Monitor crop health, identifying and addressing issues related to pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Implement timely interventions to ensure optimal crop yields.
- Manage harvesting activities, ensuring produce is handled, sorted, and stored according to quality standards.
Team Leadership & Farm Operations
- Recruit, train, and supervise farm personnel, including seasonal workers.
- Prepare daily and weekly work plans for farm activities.
- Assign tasks, monitor staff productivity, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and labor regulations.
Business & Financial Management
- Manage farm budgets and control operational expenses.
- Oversee the procurement of agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and equipment.
- Maintain inventory records and manage relationships with suppliers.
- Keep accurate records of production data, costs, sales, and overall farm performance.
- Analyze profitability and performance metrics to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential Requirements
- A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in farm management or direct crop production.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities.
- Proficiency in modern farming techniques and irrigation systems.
- Experience in managing pests and diseases effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain farm records and manage budgets proficiently.
- Proven experience in supervising and motivating farm staff.
