ENGAGEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION MONITORING CONSULTANT – PROJECT MANAGER
(Project Location: Sakata, Zomba)
The Sparkle Foundation intends to engage a qualified and experienced Construction Monitoring Consultant (Project Manager) on a consultancy basis to provide independent monitoring and oversight services for a construction project located at Sakata in Zomba, Malawi.
Scope of Services
The Consultant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Regular monitoring and inspection of construction works on site at Sakata in Zomba
- Ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards
- Verifying quality of workmanship and construction materials
- Monitoring progress against the approved work programme
- Identifying defects, non-compliance, and advising on corrective actions
- Verifying completed works and advising on contractor payment claims
- Preparing periodic written site reports, including photographic records
- Advising the Client on construction-related risks, delays, and cost implications
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Interested individuals or firms must meet the following requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in construction supervision or monitoring
- Demonstrable experience on projects of a similar nature
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and services drawings as well as Bills of Quantities
- Strong written and verbal reporting skills
- Demonstrated independence, professionalism, and integrity
- Registration with a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
