Nurse Midwife Technician
Zomba Diocese Health Commission, operating under the Catholic Diocese of Zomba's Social Directorate, seeks a motivated Nurse Midwife Technician (Grade K) for its St. Robert Health Centre in Sitima. This role is crucial in advancing the Commission's mission to provide comprehensive healthcare aligned with Catholic values.
Reporting to the Senior Nursing Sister, you will supervise patient attendants and hospital attendants. Your primary responsibility will be delivering compassionate and effective general nursing and midwifery care to patients and their families, regardless of personal characteristics. You will also conduct health talks to empower patients, families, colleagues, and communities with health knowledge for informed decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general nursing and midwifery care using the established nursing process.
- Administer medications and treatments, including Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) where necessary.
- Assist patients with daily living activities.
- Monitor and report patient conditions and progress.
- Prepare and maintain equipment for treatments.
- Promote a clean, safe environment and prevent infections.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues to meet patient needs.
- Cultivate therapeutic relationships with patients, guardians, and coworkers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing activities.
- Provide comprehensive patient care reports to the ward in charge or doctor.
- Conduct thorough patient handovers for continuity of care.
- Uphold professional conduct at all times.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings.
- Deliver health education sessions in wards and outpatient departments.
- Engage in professional development activities.
- Commit to continuous professional development.
- Undertake any other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
- Hold a College Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from an accredited institution.
- Be registered with the Nurses and Midwife Council of Malawi.
