As part of our growth strategy, CoFi is seeking a Loan Officer to support and strengthen its credit operations. The ideal candidate will be mission-driven, analytical, and experienced in assessing loan applications, managing loan portfolios, and supporting responsible lending practices.
The position requires strong financial analysis and risk assessment skills to evaluate client creditworthiness and ensure sound lending decisions. The Loan Officer will work closely with clients to understand their financial needs, structure appropriate loan solutions, and ensure compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties
- Reviewing loan applications to determine if individual and group applicants meet criteria for obtaining a loan.
- Conducting appraisals of real estate, Cash bond and pledged Assets to determine its value as collateral for a loan.
- Reviewing loan applications and ensuring that all required documents are complete and accurate
- Negotiating with borrowers to establish payment schedules and interest rates on loans
- Providing advice on financial planning, risk management, and farming techniques to help farmers improve their business practices and increase productivity.
- Reviewing applications and making recommendations regarding loans or loan terms based on applicants’ creditworthiness, collateral value, and other factors
- Combine agricultural and business knowledge with an understanding of each customer’s current financial position in order to provide workable alternatives to solve problems
- Ensure all files are maintained in a secure environment to protect borrowers’ data
- Offer Training in Credit Management to Farmers
Qualifications
- Diploma in finance and banking, accounting, Agribusiness or any relevant field.
- Minimum one year of working experiences in banking and financial services industry with a strong track record in granting loans.
- Excellent knowledge of the bank branch operations, rules and regulations, laws, granting loans, and credit risk management.
- Demonstrated presentation skills.
- Ability to use and communicate in both Chichewa and English.
- Excellent Microsoft Office and Bank’s software.
- Excellent organizing, recording and filing skills.
- Good math skills and ability to spot numerical errors.
- Good team leadership, management, problem solving, negotiation and interpersonal skill.
- Strong dedication to accuracy and efficiency.
- Must have clean Motor Cycle rider’s Licence
