POSITION: Health and Safety Officer

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards. The role focuses on preventing accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses while promoting a strong safety culture across all operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and prepare detailed reports
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices
- Maintain health and safety records, permits, and documentation
- Coordinate with management, supervisors, and workers on safety matters
- Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement across the organization
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health or related field
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices
- Experience in site safety, preferably in construction or industrial environments
- Good communication, reporting, and training skills
- Ability to identify risks and take proactive corrective action
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
- Familiarity with safety management systems (ISO 45001)
- First aid or fire safety certification
