About the Role
The Biosecurity Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring biosecurity programs across all Central Poultry operations, including breeder farms, hatcheries, broiler farms, layer farms, feed production facilities, and poultry processing operations. The successful candidate will ensure strict compliance with biosecurity standards aimed at preventing disease outbreaks and safeguarding poultry health and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement biosecurity policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures across all company sites.
- Conduct regular biosecurity audits and inspections of farms, hatcheries, feed mills, transport vehicles, and processing facilities.
- Monitor compliance with farm entry and exit procedures, sanitation protocols, and disease prevention measures.
- Coordinate cleaning, disinfection, and pest control programs across all operational areas.
- Monitor flock health status and work closely with veterinarians and farm managers to identify and respond to disease risks.
- Investigate biosecurity breaches and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, disease surveillance activities, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Conduct employee training and awareness programs on biosecurity best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, veterinary regulations, food safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Participate in emergency response planning and disease outbreak management.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and veterinary service providers as required.
- Prepare regular biosecurity performance reports for management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Livestock Production, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in poultry production, animal health, farm biosecurity, or disease control.
- Strong understanding of poultry diseases, disease surveillance, and prevention strategies.
- Knowledge of poultry farm operations, hatchery management, and poultry processing systems will be an added advantage.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Good report writing and record management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
