Role Overview:

We are seeking a full-time, on-site Social Safeguards Specialist to join our team in Lilongwe. This role is critical for ensuring projects adhere to social safeguard principles. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive social impact assessments, developing and implementing robust social safeguard plans, and ensuring strict compliance with regulatory frameworks and international standards. The position requires proactive engagement with stakeholders, expert guidance on social risk management, the development of targeted capacity-building programs, and the continuous monitoring of safeguard effectiveness to meet both organizational and client objectives.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise in Social Impact Assessments, Social Safeguard Frameworks, and effective Risk Mitigation Strategies.
• Proven experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Community Consultation, and Conflict Resolution.
• Solid understanding of Regulatory Compliance, Social Policy Development, and International Safeguard Standards.
• Proficiency in Report Writing, Analytical Research, and Data Interpretation.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Competence in relevant data analysis and reporting software.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in the development sector or with international organizations is highly advantageous.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minimum of 5 years of experience in community-based assignments is essential.
