About the Organisation


Established in 1997, the Malawi Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (MANET+) is a membership-based umbrella organization uniting networks, support groups, and associations of individuals living with HIV across Malawi. MANET+ operates under the Trustees Incorporation Act (Cap. 5.30) and is registered with both the NGO Regulatory Authority and the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations (CONGOMA). The Network is dedicated to advancing the rights, dignity, health, and well-being of people living with HIV through comprehensive advocacy, capacity building, community systems strengthening, strategic partnerships, and ensuring the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV in all facets of the national HIV response.


To spearhead the Network’s vision and amplify its impact, MANET+ is seeking applications from highly qualified and experienced individuals for the role of:


EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Position Summary


Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume comprehensive strategic, programmatic, financial, and operational leadership for the Network. This pivotal role involves enhancing the organization’s institutional capacity, driving advocacy initiatives, securing vital resources, fostering strategic alliances, and ensuring the effective execution of the Network’s strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership and Governance



  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to propel the Network’s mission and objectives forward.

  • Spearhead the implementation, monitoring, and review of the Network’s strategic plan.

  • Support the Board of Directors in the effective execution of their governance duties.

  • Ensure strict adherence to organizational policies, all legal mandates, and donor compliance requirements.


Advocacy and Representation



  • Lead national advocacy efforts to champion the rights, health, and overall well-being of individuals living with HIV.

  • Represent the Network at national, regional, and international platforms, engaging with government bodies, development partners, and civil society organizations.

  • Strengthen the active participation of people living with HIV in policy formulation, program design, and decision-making processes.


Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Development



  • Design and implement robust strategies for sustainable resource mobilization.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with government ministries, development partners, donors, civil society organizations, and community structures.

  • Lead proposal development, donor engagement, and successful grant acquisition initiatives.


Programme and Organisational Management



  • Oversee the meticulous planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of all programs.

  • Ensure prudent financial management and responsible stewardship of organizational assets.

  • Provide effective leadership and supervision to staff and consultants.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and high performance within the organization.


Qualifications and Experience


Candidates must possess:



  • A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.

  • A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of progressive leadership and management experience within the NGO, public health, development, or civil society sectors.

  • Proven experience in HIV/AIDS programming, community health, advocacy, human rights, or social development initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, engaging with donors, and managing grants effectively.

  • A thorough understanding of Malawi’s HIV response landscape, including community-led initiatives and health systems strengthening efforts.

  • Experience working collaboratively with government institutions, development partners, and civil society networks.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

  • Strong proficiency in financial and organizational management.

Terms of Appointment


This full-time position is based in Lilongwe, with expectations for periodic travel both within Malawi and internationally. MANET+ offers a competitive remuneration package, structured to align with the candidate's qualifications and extensive experience.
