About the Role

As a Grants Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission by overseeing all financial aspects of our grants portfolio. This encompasses managing budgeting, reporting, compliance, and engaging with various stakeholders. Collaborating closely with both finance and fundraising departments, your efforts will ensure efficient grant management to support an annual grant portfolio that exceeds $130 million. Reporting directly to the Grants Finance Team Lead, this position offers seasoned professionals a unique chance to drive impactful change and contribute significantly to our organization's strategic expansion.

Responsibilities

Grant Proposal Development & Strategy: Budget Management

• Lead the creation of grant budgets, ensuring all financial and operational data is precise and aligns with organizational objectives.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to fundraising teams and conduct thorough quality control on grant agreements to protect our financial interests.
• Collaborate early with program staff to verify the feasibility of project milestones and manage data entry for new funding opportunities.

Grant Reporting & Audit Readiness: Expenditure Monitoring and Compliance

• Oversee the preparation of financial reports and continuously monitor spending across programs to guarantee adherence to funder regulations and submission deadlines.
• Direct grant-specific audits by ensuring all financial records and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and prepared for external review.
• Offer technical assistance and training to program teams, ensuring all expenses are properly documented and funds are utilized effectively.

Systems Management & Process Improvement: Long-term System Development

• Validate data within Salesforce and Power BI to confirm that financial records accurately reflect grant restrictions and proposal budgets.
• Drive continuous improvements in grant-related processes through the development of automated reports and standardized templates to enhance team efficiency.
• Adapt and refine internal systems to mitigate compliance risks and keep pace with the evolving requirements of new funding sources.

Qualifications

While we seek general qualifications across all positions, this specific role requires:

• Over 8 years of experience in finance and accounting, supported by relevant certifications. The ideal candidate will also possess experience in grants management within the development sector, with a demonstrated history of successfully managing intricate grant portfolios.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Expertise in financial grants management, including proficient skills in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting procedures.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, specifically Salesforce, for effective grant management and reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the capability to execute complex functions and data analysis.
• Adeptness in analyzing complex datasets to inform strategic decision-making.
• An accomplished communicator, capable of effectively engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Language: English
