Farmers Organisation Ltd is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our team in Lilongwe. This pivotal role involves the skillful operation, routine maintenance, and effective troubleshooting of production machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for machine setup, operational oversight, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards, and strictly following all safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation:
- Operate diverse machinery in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Adjust machine settings as necessary to guarantee optimal performance and superior product quality.

Setup and Calibration:
- Prepare machinery for operation by loading necessary materials, configuring precise settings, and conducting test runs.
- Calibrate machines to meet specific production requirements and technical specifications.

Monitoring:
- Continuously observe machine operations to promptly identify and resolve any issues or irregularities.
- Ensure machinery runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the entire production cycle.

Maintenance:
- Execute routine maintenance tasks and undertake minor repairs on machinery.
- Report significant malfunctions or equipment problems to Maintenance personnel and actively follow up on repair progress.

Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products meticulously to confirm quality alignment with company standards and specifications.
- Accurately document and report any observed defects or deviations.

Occupational Safety and Compliance:
- Comply with all company safety protocols and guidelines without exception.
- Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, orderly work environment.

Documentation:
- Maintain precise records of machine operations, production outputs, and all maintenance activities.
- Complete all required documentation for production runs and machine performance metrics.

Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively with fellow team members, including Supervisors and Quality Control staff, to ensure efficient production and effectively resolve any emerging challenges.
Qualification, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- A Certificate in Technical or vocational training in machinery will be considered an asset.
- At least three (3) years of practical work experience operating machinery within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Fundamental understanding of machine operation, maintenance, and repair procedures.

- Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Keen attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Physical ability to stand for extended durations, lift and move materials, and perform repetitive tasks.
This position reports directly to the Branch Manager in Lilongwe.
