Lighthouse Trust is a registered Public Trust supporting Malawi’s national HIV response. The organization provides integrated HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services, operating in collaboration with the Ministry of Health across major health facilities.
Position Overview
The Treatment Supporter will be responsible for delivering client-centered support services. This includes providing counselling, HIV prevention, care, and treatment, while creating a supportive environment for clients at the Lighthouse Martin Preuss Centre (MPC).
Key Duties
- Conduct treatment literacy sessions covering HIV testing, adherence, viral load monitoring, and VMMC.
- Mobilize communities and organize sensitization meetings.
- Screen clients for HIV testing eligibility in Outpatient Departments (OPD).
- Distribute HIV self-test kits at both facility and community levels.
- Support index testing and facilitate referrals for contacts.
- Perform screenings for TB, COVID-19, and depression.
- Facilitate referrals for various services, including cervical cancer screening, PrEP, and family planning.
- Counsel and escort clients initiating or restarting Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).
- Follow up with clients not linked to care within seven days and support linkage with community partners.
- Manage client appointments, reminders, and follow-ups.
- Trace defaulters through phone calls and home visits.
- Provide adherence counselling and psychosocial support.
- Support HIV disclosure to partners and family members.
- Facilitate Psychosocial Support Group (PSSG) activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate effectively with clinic teams.
Qualifications
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- Possession of a valid motorcycle riding license and demonstrated riding skills.
- Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, counselling, care, and support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in both English and local languages.
- Proactive attitude and strong commitment to advancing HIV programs.
