The Cash Teller is responsible for the accurate handling, processing, and control of cash transactions while delivering excellent customer service. The role ensures proper cash management, daily balancing, and compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures to support efficient branch operations.
Receive and pay out cash accurately for customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and payments.
Verify the authenticity of banknotes and coins and identify counterfeit or suspicious currency.
Maintain proper custody and security of cash at all times.
Ensure adequate cash levels at the teller station to support daily operations.
Process transactions promptly while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each business day.
Investigate and resolve cash shortages or overages promptly and report discrepancies in line with procedures.
Maintain accurate transaction records and documentation.
Comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and cash-handling policies.
Support vault cash management and end-of-day reconciliation processes when required.
Provide courteous, professional, and efficient service to all customers.
Respond to customer inquiries clearly and accurately regarding account transactions.
Resolve customer concerns promptly and escalate issues where necessary.
Promote a positive customer experience by maintaining a friendly and service-oriented approach.
Adhere to service standards and contribute to customer satisfaction and retention.
Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to cash handling.
Maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information at all times.
Support branch operations through teamwork and cooperation with colleagues.
Participate in audits and operational reviews as required.
Strong cash handling and numerical accuracy
High level of integrity and attention to detail
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good organizational and record-keeping skills
Diploma in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage
Previous experience in a cash handling or customer service role is preferred
