The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited, established under Malawi's Companies Act, is actively seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill current vacancies within the corporation. ESCOM's primary mandate involves the procurement, transmission, and distribution of electrical power throughout Malawi, alongside overseeing System Market Operations and functioning as the Single Buyer in the nation.

Substations Erectors – 8 Positions
Grade: ES12
Location: Various
Supervised by: Substations Technician

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for the maintenance of high-voltage transformers and associated equipment, ensuring their seamless operation to minimize faults and system disturbances within the assigned region.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform installations of high-voltage equipment.
2. Detect defects and resolve faults within substation environments.
3. Ensure constant adherence to all relevant standards and safety regulations.
4. Manage switchyard vegetation and maintain general housekeeping.
5. Conduct various transformer tests.

Required Attributes and Competencies

• Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be physically fit.
• Capable of performing tasks both autonomously and as a collaborative team member.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) combined with a General Fitting Certificate.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in the power industry or a related field.
