Role Overview
The most critical security and assurance hire in the Group. This person builds the entire Loss Control function from nothing: recruiting the team, establishing investigation procedures, installing monitoring systems, building relationships with law enforcement, and creating a culture where theft and fraud are detected and addressed rather than tolerated. Reports directly to the Group CEO to ensure independence from operational management who may themselves be subjects of investigation. The successful candidate must combine security and investigation expertise with the management skills to build a professional department, and the political intelligence to operate effectively in a complex organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the Loss Control and Security function from scratch
- Recruit, train, and manage the entire Loss Control and Control Center team
- Establish investigation procedures, evidence standards, and case management protocols
- Design and implement fuel monitoring systems across the vehicle fleet and genset network
- Coordinate stock verification programmes across all divisions
- Build relationships with Malawi Police Service, community leaders, and private security providers
- Conduct or oversee investigations into theft, fraud, stock losses, and security breaches
- Manage the Control Center: GPS tracking, fuel analysis, incident monitoring
- Provide weekly intelligence briefings to the Group CEO
- Coordinate with Area Security Managers at broiler farms and depot security
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 7 years in loss control, corporate security, investigation, or law enforcement
- Experience building a security or loss control function from the ground up
- Track record of successful investigations leading to prosecutions or recoveries
- Experience with GPS tracking, fuel monitoring, and surveillance technology
- Understanding of agricultural or food processing security challenges preferred
- Strong leadership skills: building and managing a team of investigators and analysts
- Unimpeachable personal integrity
- Experience in Africa strongly preferred
- Willingness to relocate to Malawi
