This role is a key part of the Hotel Administration team on Viking's Ocean vessels, serving as the second in command for hotel operations.
Key Duties
- Oversee and control the ship’s entire financial operation, including revenue, cost management, and guest/crew administration, adhering to Viking’s STAR Service Standards.
- Manage and maintain all on-board service standards.
- Report directly to the Hotel General Manager.
- Manage revenue and cost control, ensuring adherence to budgets.
- Oversee financial reporting, statistics, and internal auditing (accounting, payroll, cruise closing).
- Ensure all Hotel Department operations are economically managed and meet financial targets.
- Account for ship’s funds and cash availability.
- Review weekly inventory reports to maintain optimal supply levels.
- Prepare and submit accurate Cruise End financial reports.
- Plan events for Shops/Concessionaires in collaboration with Department Heads.
- Supervise the sale of shore excursions and tour dispatches.
- Ensure compliance with legal aspects of crew employment, health and safety, company SMS, and Environmental Policies.
- Actively participate in all Food & Beverage outlets to ensure quality and service, identify improvements, and establish effective training routines.
- Conduct monthly inventories of all food, beverage, expendable, and consumable items with HODs.
- Oversee the loading process and ensure quality assurance for deliveries.
- Lead and support a diverse team to maximize crew satisfaction, productivity, and retention.
Qualifications
- Diploma from an internationally recognized hotel school or university.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Food & Beverage Manager or Assistant General Manager (or higher) in a luxury/premium property.
- Minimum 3 years of shipboard and managerial experience in this specific position or higher.
- Strong financial background with exposure to budgeting and financial analysis.
- Proven knowledge of public health regulations.
- Completion of appropriate HR or craft training, or equivalent.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Service-oriented with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and attention to detail.
- Exceptional management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Possess flexibility, stress resistance, a team-player attitude, commitment, a positive personality, and a professional appearance with a hands-on approach.
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities for leading a multicultural team.
