About the Role
The Sparkle Foundation Malawi is seeking a dynamic Sports Coordinator to lead the development and execution of inclusive sports programs, focusing on football, netball, and general physical well-being. This role is instrumental in integrating sports across all age groups and programs to foster holistic child development, health, and talent progression. You will also play a key part in creating pathways for talented athletes and embedding life skills such as confidence, teamwork, and leadership through sports.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver structured sports programs, overseeing coaching quality and volunteer development.
- Establish and manage athlete development pathways, promoting a holistic approach to sports that integrates life skills.
- Ensure all sports activities adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies, acting as a role model for safe and inclusive environments.
- Manage sports equipment, facilities, and program resources effectively, contributing to budget oversight.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, partners, schools, and community stakeholders.
- Develop and implement a multi-sport strategy, integrating physical activity into the curriculum and across various program areas.
- Establish and deliver operational plans for football and netball programs, including organizing tournaments and developing youth programs.
- Facilitate opportunities for international exposure for players and coordinate visiting sports volunteers.
- Organize staff fitness classes and team sports tournaments to promote a culture of health and well-being.
- Support the M&E department in developing reporting tools and ensuring timely submission of quality narrative and financial reports for sports programs.
Requirements
- Diploma in Sports Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in sports management, with a focus on football.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to lead projects and work independently.
- Passion for youth development and using sport as a tool for change.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
