About
The Catholic Diocese of Karonga is dedicated to integral evangelization and various development initiatives. This internship is offered within the Land and Construction Department, a key unit responsible for overseeing the entire process of land acquisition and managing all significant construction projects for the Diocese and its associated institutions. The intern will be based at the Chancery/Curia in Karonga and will report directly to the Land & Construction Officer (LaCPO).
Key Duties
- Assist in the comprehensive planning, implementation, and management of processes related to land acquisition for the Diocese.
- Support the planning, implementation, and oversight of all major construction projects for Diocesan buildings and institutions.
- Initiate and ensure the completion of all land lease processes.
- Contribute to architectural and structural design tasks for various projects.
- Accurately cost all Diocesan construction projects.
- Ensure that all construction projects are properly submitted to and registered with the relevant planning authorities, including the Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA), for approval before commencement.
- Supervise ongoing construction works to ensure strict adherence to architectural and engineering specifications and details.
- Provide comprehensive technical reports and support to the Land & Construction Officer.
Qualifications
- A first degree in Land Management, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Studies, or Civil Engineering.
- At least one year of post-qualification experience in a relevant field such as Land Management, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Studies, or Construction.
- A conceptual understanding of the land leasing process.
- Demonstrated ability to design, cost, and implement construction projects is essential.
- Proven capacity to effectively manage relationships with both religious and private sector institutions.
- Possess strong personal attributes, including social and spiritual confidence, self-assurance, excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities (even for challenging information), and professionalism.
