Company Doctor - Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company Limited
Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company Limited is inviting applications for the full-time position of Company Doctor at its clinic located at the Lilongwe Head Office.
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Company Doctor will serve as a senior member of the management team. This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical services to employees, promoting health and well-being, preventing occupational illnesses and injuries, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical care and medical consultations to employees.
- Conduct medical examinations for pre-employment, periodic assessments, and upon employee exit.
- Diagnose and manage both occupational and general health conditions.
- Assess workplace health risks and provide recommendations for preventive measures.
- Contribute to the implementation of workplace wellness initiatives.
- Collaborate with EHSQ and HR departments to ensure adherence to occupational health regulations.
- Oversee the management of work-related injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation and return-to-work planning.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and reports.
- Deliver health education and awareness programs to staff.
- Liaise with external healthcare providers, insurance companies, and regulatory authorities as needed.
Qualifications, Experience, and Key Competencies:
- Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or an equivalent medical qualification.
- Current, unrestricted registration to practice medicine in Malawi or another recognized jurisdiction.
- Postgraduate training in Occupational Health, Tropical Medicine, General Practice, or Primary Care is advantageous.
- A minimum of seven years of progressive clinical management experience in a relevant medical field.
- Preferred experience in providing comprehensive primary healthcare services, emergency coverage, or corporate medical services.
- Knowledge of preventive health programs, including hypertension and diabetes management, HIV/AIDS screening and treatment, and substance abuse screening.
- Experience in managing workplace health and safety programs is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency in clinical, occupational, and tropical/travel medicine.
- Formal training in CPR; BLS, ACLS, and ITS or equivalent emergency medical care certifications are preferred.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High standards of confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
