Butcher
SME Clinic is seeking a skilled and dependable Butcher for their client, a rapidly expanding retailer that serves Malawi's premier hospitality businesses with fresh food products. This role is based in Blantyre.
The ideal applicant will possess extensive experience as a butcher, demonstrating a thorough understanding of meat preparation, storage techniques, hygiene protocols, and customer engagement. A valid driving license is also a mandatory requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly cut, trim, de-bone, and prepare various meat products according to established standards.
- Ensure the correct handling, storage, and attractive display of all meat items.
- Uphold stringent hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety measures.
- Receive, meticulously inspect, and effectively manage all meat inventory.
- Provide knowledgeable advice to customers regarding meat selections and preparation methods.
- Accurately portion, weigh, and package meat products for sale.
- Assist with product deliveries and logistical movements as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of stock consumption, waste, and daily production output.
- Guarantee strict adherence to all company policies and food safety regulations.
Qualifications
- A certificate or relevant training in butchery, food handling, or a comparable discipline is advantageous.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience as a Butcher.
- Comprehensive knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and optimal storage practices.
- A strong grasp of hygiene and food safety principles.
- Capability to perform duties effectively both independently and under pressure.
- Proficient communication and exceptional customer service abilities.
- Must hold a valid driving license.
- Must be a resident of Blantyre.
