AIR-CON AND REFRIGERATION MECHANIC
Unitrans Malawi Limited, a distinguished employer within the sugar and agriculture sectors, is seeking a qualified individual of Malawian origin to fill a vacant position at its Dwangwa Depot in Nkhota-kota.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting inspections and diagnosing issues within vehicle and office air conditioning systems.
- Performing routine maintenance and necessary repairs on air-conditioning units.
- Installing new air conditioning systems in both company offices and vehicles.
- Utilizing hand and power tools for the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration systems.
- Staying current with advancements and new technologies in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
- Adhering to all safety and health regulations at all times.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- A Grade 1 National Trade Test Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or a comparable qualification. Completion of a refrigeration mechanic apprenticeship program or equivalent practical experience is also required.
- Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a similar role within a busy organizational environment.
- Familiarity with agricultural and vehicle air conditioning systems, including the ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts and with minimal supervision.
