Contract Type: A one-year paid internship contract, including a six-month probation period, with potential for extension based on performance.


Salary: MK 200,000 per month, subject to performance-based adjustments.

Zion of Glory Ministry is a faith-based organization dedicated to strengthening churches, empowering communities, and fostering sustainable livelihoods across the Balaka, Ntcheu, Machinga, and Lilongwe districts. Our work involves collaboration with local churches, women, youth, farmers, and community leaders to enhance household incomes and overall community well-being.


Our key initiatives include:



  • Distribution of local chickens to households.

  • Support for small-scale farmers and cooperatives.

  • Provision of group loans for Income Generating Activities (IGAs).

  • Delivery of vocational and entrepreneurship training.

  • Programs focused on church leadership development and community transformation.



About the Role:


Zion of Glory Ministry is seeking a motivated, committed, and experienced individual to fill the role of Community & Church Development Facilitator. The chosen candidate will be responsible for coordinating community training sessions, supporting vocational skills development, managing group loan schemes, building partnerships, and facilitating church and community transformation programs. This role demands regular fieldwork across the designated districts and close collaboration with volunteers, women's and youth groups, church leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations.



Key Responsibilities:



  1. Partnerships & Pastor Collaboration

    • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with churches, community leaders, NGOs, CBOs, and government bodies.

    • Collaborate closely with pastors to align church initiatives with community development objectives.

    • Identify opportunities for partnerships and resource mobilization to support ministry programs.



  2. Youth, Women & Volunteer Engagement

    • Mobilize and train volunteers, women, and youth groups for community development activities.

    • Facilitate training in leadership, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.

    • Assist churches and community groups with proposal writing and project development.



  3. Economic Empowerment, Loans & Agriculture

    • Coordinate value chain activities for agricultural products and small businesses.

    • Oversee the ministry's initiative for distributing local chickens.

    • Manage group loans for Income Generating Activities (IGAs), including monitoring repayments and follow-ups.

    • Support farmers through market access and cooperative development initiatives.

    • Facilitate Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and provide training in financial literacy and management.



  4. Vocational Skills Training

    • Organize and deliver vocational skills training for women and youth, covering trades such as tailoring, sewing, and carpentry.

    • Assist trainees in launching their small businesses and accessing markets.

    • Maintain vocational training materials, equipment, and records at the training centre.



  5. Community Transformation Facilitation

    • Lead community meetings, workshops, and awareness sessions addressing social and economic issues.

    • Collaborate with local leaders and communities to identify needs and develop practical solutions.

    • Monitor project implementation progress and prepare detailed reports.



  6. Project Visibility, Monitoring & ICT Support

    • Develop straightforward monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and performance indicators.

    • Document project successes, reports, and photographs for partners and donors.

    • Utilize ICT tools and social media platforms, such as WhatsApp and Facebook, for communication, reporting, and enhancing project visibility.



  7. Church Planting & Pastor Training

    • Train lay pastors in fundamental theology, pastoral care, leadership, and church administration.

    • Support newly established churches with operational systems, planning, and record management.





Qualifications & Experience:


Applicants must possess:



  • A Diploma or Degree in Community Development, complemented by knowledge and skills in Education, Agriculture, Business, Theology, Vocational Training, ICT, or a related field.

  • Practical experience in tailoring, sewing, carpentry, or similar trades.

  • Proven experience in managing group loans, VSLAs, cooperatives, or microfinance operations.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, training, partnership building, or community/church development work.

  • Familiarity with proposal writing, project planning, and basic monitoring and evaluation techniques.

  • Proficiency in basic ICT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, WhatsApp, social media engagement, and report writing.

  • Strong communication abilities in both Chichewa and English.

  • The capacity to work autonomously and travel within the Balaka, Ntcheu, Machinga & Lilongwe districts.

  • A willingness to relocate to Balaka.



Added Advantage:


Preference will be given to candidates with:



  • Previous experience working with ECM, CHAM, or other faith-based organizations.

  • A valid motorcycle riding license.
