We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Supermarket Buyer to oversee product sourcing, manage supplier relationships, and direct stock procurement for our supermarket operations. The ideal candidate will ensure a consistent supply of high-quality products at competitive prices, maintain optimal inventory levels, and drive profitability.

Supermarket Buyer
Key Responsibilities
- Procure supermarket products from both local and international suppliers.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier contracts.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely stock replenishment.
- Analyze sales data and customer demand to inform purchasing decisions.
- Ensure efficient product delivery and promptly resolve any supply chain disruptions.
- Identify emerging products and market opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Collaborate effectively with inventory, finance, and store operations teams.
- Track product quality, pricing strategies, and competitor activities.
- Develop purchasing reports and sales forecasts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a relevant discipline.
- Previous experience in retail purchasing or supermarket buying is advantageous.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential.
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical capabilities and sound decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) procurement.
- Familiarity with local supplier networks and wholesale market dynamics.
- Prior experience with retail ERP or stock management systems.
