Team and Role Context


The Technical Support Assistant will be instrumental in the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of renewable energy, electrical, and agricultural equipment across various project sites. Key duties include ensuring the consistent performance of solar power systems, generators, solar irrigation pumps, and agro-processing equipment, thereby minimizing operational disruptions.


This role also involves delivering practical technical training to local personnel, supporting the development of field infrastructure, and contributing to the successful operation of sustainable processing and renewable energy initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:



  • Conduct electrical installations, wiring, testing, and maintenance for electrical systems and associated equipment.

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain solar power systems, including panels, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and related electrical components.

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on generators to ensure operational reliability.

  • Assist in the installation, operation, repair, and upkeep of solar-powered irrigation pumps used in organic farming operations.

  • Support the design, setup, and optimization of irrigation systems for agricultural purposes.

  • Diagnose and resolve faults in solar dryers, groundnut shelling machines, and other agro-processing machinery.

  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks and maintain comprehensive service records for all technical equipment.

  • Provide training to local staff and community members on the installation, operation, maintenance, and safe usage of electrical, solar, and agricultural equipment.

  • Offer technical assistance during field installations, commissioning phases, and equipment upgrades.

  • Identify technical challenges and implement effective solutions to reduce equipment downtime.

  • Ensure adherence to all safety standards and operational procedures during technical activities.

  • Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and inventory records for equipment and spare parts.






Required Background and Skills:


Educational Background:



  • A Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, or a related discipline.


Work Experience:



  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in electrical installations and maintenance, solar energy system installation, and generator operation and maintenance.

  • Experience troubleshooting agricultural processing equipment, including solar dryers and groundnut shelling machines.
