About
Mzuzu University Trust Fund, established under the Mzuzu University Act (1997), facilitates business and commercial dealings to promote the university's self-sustenance. This role is based at the University’s Trust Fund Secretariat in Mzuzu.
Key Duties
- Develop and build a pipeline of investment project opportunities.
- Write bankable business investment proposals and oversee their implementation.
- Produce quarterly progress reports on business investments.
- Maintain and develop a database of business investments, customers, stakeholders, and prospects.
- Conduct market, competitor, and customer surveys to identify new business opportunities.
- Analyze financial data to inform strategies for cost reduction, revenue increase, and viable new business approaches.
- Identify and develop new markets for the Trust Fund.
- Draft and ensure execution of agreements and MOUs for approved business investment proposals.
- Manage and retain relationships with existing business partners and donors.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a first degree in economics, finance, business, or marketing from a reputable institution.
- Proficiency in computer application packages including Stata, Eviews, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Drive.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to successfully develop and pitch ideas to potential investors.
- At least five (5) years of post-qualification relevant experience in business and economic analysis.
- Relevant experience in institutions of higher learning is desirable.

- Business management skills with a bias in managerial economics, project management, fundraising, marketing, and business development.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
