Lindian Resources Limited is a prominent ASX-listed company dedicated to developing critical mineral assets essential for the global energy transition. The company is spearheading the development of the significant Kangankunde rare earths project in Malawi and a large bauxite project in Guinea, positioning itself as a key global producer of these vital minerals.


Role Description:


This is a full-time, on-site position for a Radio Engineer at our mining site located near Balaka. You will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of radio communication systems that support operational and logistical activities across Lindian’s projects. Key duties include configuring and optimizing RF and wireless networks, assessing propagation and coverage, and diligently monitoring system performance and reliability.


The role involves diagnosing and resolving communication issues, conducting regular equipment testing and calibration, and ensuring adherence to all relevant spectrum, safety, and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with IT, operations, field, and safety teams to ensure robust communication infrastructure, meticulously document system configurations, and contribute to the continuous improvement of network design.


Qualifications:



  • Comprehensive understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) principles and practical experience with RF systems, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and propagation characteristics.

  • Experience with various wireless technologies such as microwave links, two-way radio, satellite, Wi-Fi, and LTE/private LTE, ideally within operational or industrial settings.

  • Demonstrated capability in designing radio and wireless systems, considering coverage planning, capacity, and redundancy requirements.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting radio, RF, and wireless communication problems using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and systematic fault-finding methodologies.

  • Understanding of signal processing concepts relevant to modulation, filtering, interference mitigation, and system optimization.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Familiarity with spectrum licensing, regulatory requirements, and safety standards applicable to radio systems.

  • Ability to work effectively on-site in an operational environment, with potential for occasional travel to remote project locations.

  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, enabling effective work within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience in mining, resources, or infrastructure projects, and vendor/contractor coordination, is highly desirable.


Additional IT Support Responsibilities:



  • Provide first- and second-line IT support to site staff for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Maintain and monitor on-site server infrastructure, UPS systems, and network switching equipment.

  • Support LAN/WAN connectivity, including cabling, patch panels, switches, and Wi-Fi access points.

  • Manage on-site end-user devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, and peripherals.

  • Assist with Microsoft 365 user account management, password resets, and basic Entra ID/Active Directory tasks under remote supervision.

  • Monitor site internet and WAN connectivity, escalating outages and liaising with ISPs for resolution.

  • Maintain accurate IT asset records and update the software/hardware inventory system.


General Site Requirements:



  • Adherence to all site HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies and procedures.

  • Active participation in site inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE reporting.

  • Production of clear incident and fault reports for remote IT/OT review.

  • Support for IT/OT projects and rollouts as directed by the Head of IT/OT.

  • Maintenance of an organized and tidy communications room and equipment storage area.
