Education Advisor - NGO Sector
Our client, a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening education systems globally, is looking for dynamic Education Advisors to join their Malawi team. This role will focus on the seamless execution of organizational projects in collaboration with various departments, particularly the Strategic Advisors in Malawi and the Global Strategic Education Advisors at the head office.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-create, develop, coordinate, and sustain strategies that foster strong working relationships with staff at all levels and other partners to implement, monitor, institutionalize, and scale catch-up initiatives.
- Contribute to the successful achievement of the sustainability objectives for the catch-up project within the organization.
- Prepare, contribute to, and oversee the quality of innovative hub activities.
- Leverage field office expertise and experience to support the development of innovative proposals.
- Play an integral role in the ongoing implementation of the organization's catch-up projects.
- Participate in the identification, formulation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects aimed at driving educational change.
- Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and support to internal colleagues and partners to ensure project success and facilitate educational transformation.
- Undertake diverse roles in partner capacity development, tailored to partner needs and program phases.
- Ensure the integration of quality assurance into catch-up projects, developing, implementing, reviewing, and documenting clear and effective approaches.
- Stay current with policy trends, new developments, and research in education and international development through networking, and share these insights with partners and the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required; a master's degree is a significant advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role within the international development sector.
- Extensive, demonstrated expertise in Catch Up and/or Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
- Experience with innovation hubs or learning labs is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to develop and implement professional development programs for a wide range of education stakeholders, including teachers, school leaders, and officials.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders within the Malawian education landscape.
- An in-depth understanding of national education systems and current trends in the education sector.
- Familiarity with and experience in program management, preferably including project cycle management.
- Experience with change management and capacity development processes within educational institutions.
- Proficiency in a full range of software applications, including MS Office Suite (TEAMS, Outlook) and social collaboration tools.
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and one local language.
- Experience working within a multicultural team environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for short periods (approximately one week per month).
