VACANCIES

Opportunities have arisen for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following vacant positions tenable in various Sunbird Hotels and Resorts across the country.

SECURITY SUPERVISORS

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducting parade inspection and ensuring proper handovers are done.

• Ascertaining the availability of security equipment and tools.

• Monitoring and controlling access to the hotel.

• Patrolling the hotel premises for guards’ coverage.

• Liaising with outsourced security service providers.

• Conducting investigations and compiling reports on all hotel incidents and accidents.

• Ensuring 24-hour security of the entire hotel premises.

• Ensuring vehicles coming in and going out of the hotel are properly recorded.

• Identifying training gaps and conducting training for all security guards.

• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills, Competences and Attributes Desired

• Diploma in Security Management from any institution recognized by NCHE.

• A full Malawi School Certificate of Education.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Security Management. Those who served in the Malawi Police Service or Malawi Defence Force and have a clean record will have an added advantage.

• Understanding organizational, investigative, and leadership skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures.

• Problem-solving skills and customer service savvy.

MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing medium- to long-term plans for the maintenance department.

• Ensuring availability of spares and tools for the hotel’s various equipment.

• Formulating annual preventative maintenance schedules.

• Conducting room care programs regularly.

• Supervising and certifying contractors’ work by ensuring it is carried out according to set standards.

• Monitoring maintenance costs.

• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills, Competences and Attributes Desired

• Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from any institution recognized by NCHE; those with a Bachelor’s degree in the above disciplines will have an added advantage.

• A full Malawi School Certificate of Education.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in a hotel setup.

• Must be a team player.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Good technical services competencies.

SWIMMING POOL ATTENDANTS

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning the swimming pool and its surroundings.

• Checking stocking levels of cleaning chemicals.

• Checking swimming pool water levels.

• Checking filtration systems on a daily basis.

• Treating the water with proper chemicals.

• Attending to guests’ requests and complaints.

• Practicing strict hygiene and health in dressing and work habits.

• Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills, Competences and Attributes Desired

• A full Malawi School Certificate of Education.

• Formal certification in Life Saving skills.

• Basic First Aid skills.

• 5 years’ experience in a related capacity.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Energetic personality.
