The Lilongwe City Council is seeking to recruit 80 Temporary Debt Collection Assistants for a six-month contract period within its Directorate of Commerce, Trade and Industry. These roles are designed to support the council in its revenue mobilization efforts.
Key Duties
- Monitor assigned accounts to identify overdue payments.
- Research historical debt information and locate debtors to discuss outstanding balances.
- Conduct in-person visits to debtors to encourage payment.
- Facilitate payment arrangements and recommend appropriate actions for non-compliant debtors.
- Negotiate payment schedules and present findings for management review.
- Record and report debtor inquiries or disputes.
- Initiate corrections for errors found in debtor records.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports on debtor interactions.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- A certificate in Accounting, Business Management, Financial Management, Marketing, or a related field is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in revenue collection or mobilization is a plus.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and achieve collection targets.
- Resilience and stress management skills.
- Effective problem-solving capabilities.
