Job Description and Key Responsibilities
For the MoRe Project, the SHEQ Technician holds primary responsibility for implementing and overseeing the Integrated Management System, which covers Quality, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health. This role ensures full adherence to all legal, regulatory, contractual, and internal standards. The professional will be instrumental in fostering a strong culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement across all project phases, with a specific focus on forestry and plantation activities.
- Formulate, execute, and monitor policies, procedures, and practices that align with the SHEQ Integrated Management System.
- Guarantee compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) standards.
- Ensure all project activities meet applicable legal and contractual requirements, including specific forestry legislation.
- Supervise and monitor forestry operations, encompassing land preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting, while upholding environmental and safety best practices.
- Identify and evaluate risks associated with forestry work, such as machinery use, fieldwork, fire hazards, and exposure to natural elements, then propose effective preventative and corrective actions.
- Organize SHEQ training, awareness campaigns, and information sessions for project staff, field teams, and subcontractors.
- Conduct internal audits and regular inspections within forestry settings, pinpointing non-conformities and recommending appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive SHEQ technical and operational documentation.
- Generate performance reports and SHEQ indicators, ensuring timely reporting at contractual, project, and market levels.
- Champion sustainable practices in forest management, including efforts in biodiversity conservation and the responsible management of soil and water resources.
- Provide support for the implementation of forest fire prevention and suppression plans.
- Engage in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, local communities, and regulatory authorities.
Job Requirements and Competency Profile
- Certification as a Senior Occupational Health and Safety Technician (CCP) (preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety, Environment, and Quality roles, with a strong preference for involvement in large-scale forestry, plantation, agroforestry, or environmental projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in forestry operations, including planting, maintenance, harvesting, and/or sustainable forest management.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant environmental and forestry legislation.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Familiarity with forest certification schemes (e.g., FSC, PEFC) (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and SAP (preferred).
- Fluency in English (mandatory).
- An International Driving License (preferred).
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational capabilities.
- An analytical individual with a robust sense of responsibility and the ability to adapt to fieldwork and diverse cultural environments.
- Capable of working effectively under demanding conditions, including challenging terrain and remote locations.
