The Role:


Oxfam is seeking a Business Development Coordinator – Trusts, Foundations, Social Enterprises & Innovative Partnerships.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Philanthropic, Social Enterprise & Innovative Financing Strategy (15%): Provide strategic support for the development and execution of a cohesive regional engagement strategy targeting trusts, foundations, philanthropic actors, social enterprises, and innovative financing avenues. Identify and define strategic priorities within philanthropic, social enterprise, and flexible funding landscapes, ensuring all engagement aligns with regional strategic objectives, programme goals, localization commitments, and Oxfam’s ethical standards. Monitor emerging trends, donor shifts, opportunities, and strategic risks within these ecosystems.

  • Pipeline Development, Opportunity Management & Portfolio Growth (20%): Lead the creation and management of a robust, strategic, and diversified regional funding pipeline. Identify, track, assess, and prioritize opportunities across Trusts & Foundations and the Philanthropic network & Social enterprises.

  • Partnership Design, Innovation & Proposal Development (15%): Support the design of innovative, high-quality, and strategically relevant funding and partnership models. Facilitate the development of strategic partnership concepts, proposals, donor submissions, and innovative financing structures, promoting co-financing, blended funding, social enterprise collaborations, and ethical partnership frameworks with robust risk management systems.

  • Leadership of Philanthropic and Social Enterprise Business Development Function (15%): Offer functional leadership for Oxfam’s philanthropic and innovative financing architecture. Coordinate and strengthen focal points across thematic teams, countries, and support functions, while building internal capacity in philanthropic engagement, social enterprise partnerships, flexible funding acquisition, and innovative financing models.

  • Internal Coordination, Programme Integration & Systems Alignment (15%): Ensure strong internal coordination to maximize strategic funding opportunities and enhance operational coherence. Connect country teams, thematic programme leads, partnerships teams, affiliates, and support functions around strategic opportunities, reducing fragmentation and improving cross-functional communication. Ensure business development initiatives are fully integrated.

  • Relationship Management, External Engagement & Strategic Representation (10%): Support the development of strategic relationships across philanthropic and innovation ecosystems. Cultivate and maintain strong connections with Trusts, Foundations, Social enterprises, and innovation platforms & philanthropic networks.

  • Capacity Strengthening, Country Support & Systems Development (5%): Enhance business development capabilities at country and regional levels. Build expertise in proposal development, philanthropic engagement, flexible funding strategies, and social enterprise partnership models.

An ideal candidate will also possess:



  • Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, International Relations, Agricultural Economics, Social Work, or a related discipline.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Philanthropic fundraising, Trust and foundation engagement, Social enterprise development, strategic partnerships, and business development.

  • At least 2–3 years in a leadership, coordination, or strategic management role.

  • Proven experience in social enterprise development, relationship management, and coordinating multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong capabilities in relationship management, communication, and strategic thinking.

  • Demonstrated experience working with national or regional partners to support programme implementation, including cross-country or multi-stakeholder environments.

  • Ability to foster strong, credible relationships with both internal and external individuals and organizations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with strong influencing and persuasive abilities.

  • High self-awareness, personal energy, stamina, and flexibility.

  • Proven experience as a collaborative team player, working effectively with members of other teams.

  • Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure the safety of all individuals interacting with Oxfam.

  • Desirable:

  • Alignment with Oxfam’s overall aims and policies, with experience promoting gender equity, diversity, and the interests of marginalized people in all Oxfam's work.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly, sometimes at short notice, both locally and regionally.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ideally Portuguese.
