Job Description

Since 2014, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in close partnership with the governments, United Nations (UN), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), has been addressing a range of migration-related issues, including emergency humanitarian situations in Malawi. IOM Malawi is co-leading the Shelter and Camp Coordination & Camp Management (CCCM) cluster in Malawi, and hence responsible for technically supporting government authorities with all CCCM activities.

IOM is at the implementing frontline of all CCCM activities as well as taking the co-lead in coordinating the shelter and CCCM cluster to improve the coordination, delivery and monitoring of humanitarian services to vulnerable populations living in camp and camp-like settings.

The Regional Responses to Climate Displacements in Sub-Saharan Africa (RE2CLID) project aims to enhance the resilience and self-reliance of Displacement-Affected Communities (DACs) in Sub-Saharan Africa who face the risks of disasters, the adverse effects of climate change and environmental degradation. This initiative targets the highly vulnerable displacement affected communities in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Countries, namely Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles (i.e. Cluster 2).

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Southern Africa and Indian Ocean) and direct supervision of the Project Officer (CCCM and Durable solutions and, in collaboration with relevant units at IOM Malawi, the National CCCM Officer will be responsible and accountable for supporting coordination of CCCM activities implemented by IOM in Malawy, as well as policy development and review with focus on integrating human mobility dimensions into relevant policies, strategies and sectoral plans related to shelter and displacement management, with a focus on the RE2CLID programme.
