LEAD SOLUTIONS ENGINEER

NICO Technologies invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Lead Solutions Engineer. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and governance of digital solutions delivered to both NICO Group companies and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent’s key responsibilities shall, amongst others, include:

• Design and govern end-to-end solution architectures for internal business units and external customers.

• Lead and provide technical direction to software development, Quality Assurance, and UI/UX teams.

• Oversee and contribute to the development of secure, scalable, and high-performing digital solutions for diverse customer environments.

• Translate business and customer requirements into robust technical and architectural solutions.

• Define, enforce, and continuously improve architecture, development, testing, and UI/UX standards.

• Review and approve technical designs, solution architectures, and user experience artefacts prior to implementation and release.

• Ensure strong quality assurance practices, including test strategy, defect management, and release readiness.

• Promote user-centred design practices, usability testing, and consistent user experience across all solutions.

• Oversee system integrations, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and platform interoperability.

• Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.

• Identify and manage technical, delivery, and security risks across internal and customer-facing solutions.

• Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders.

• Contribute to digital and technology strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• Advanced software development and solution architecture skills.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team coordination capability.

• Solid understanding of quality assurance and delivery governance.

• Strong knowledge of secure coding and system security principles.

• Understanding of User Interface / User Experience (UI/UX) design principles and user-centred design practices.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (essential).

• Postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or Architecture (desirable).

• Professional certification in Solution Architecture or Cloud Platforms (desirable).

• Minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in software development.

• At least two to five years’ experience leading development and Quality Assurance teams.

• Proven experience in solution or application architecture.
