Research, Funding and Development Lead

About the Organisation
Mamwana Foundation, a Mchinji-based charity dedicated to removing barriers for underprivileged children and marginalized families, is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and highly organised individual to fill the role of Research, Funding and Development Lead.
Job Purpose
This role is central to researching educational needs within target communities, developing impactful programs, mobilising resources, and securing funding. The Lead will drive the overall growth and long-term sustainability of Mamwana Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for fundraising and resource mobilisation.
- Identify and analyse funding opportunities from institutional donors, trusts, foundations, and corporate entities.
- Lead the creation of compelling funding proposals, including narrative components, logical frameworks, and detailed budgets.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors and funding partners.
- Oversee the organisation's research initiatives, including baseline surveys and program evaluations.
- Ensure all research activities adhere to academic, ethical, and institutional standards.
- Translate research findings into practical insights, policy recommendations, and comprehensive reports.
- Represent the organisation at key forums focused on research, policy, and funding.
- Attend relevant meetings and provide updates on funding and development efforts to the CEO and Board.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with an NGO, in fundraising, or on community development projects.
- Proven success in securing institutional funding.
- A genuine passion for community development and the welfare of children.
- Solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Proficiency with data analysis software and the Google Suite.
- Familiarity with financial compliance, budgeting, and grant management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
