About the Role
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) seeks a dedicated National Coordinator to lead and manage its projects and initiatives within Malawi. This role is crucial for advancing FAO's mission in the country by coordinating efforts, building partnerships, and ensuring the effective implementation of agricultural and food security programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of FAO's country-level programs.
- Liaise with national government counterparts, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and national partners.
- Ensure timely reporting on program progress and outcomes to FAO headquarters.
- Contribute to the development of new project proposals and strategies.
- Manage budgets and resources allocated to FAO operations in Malawi.
- Represent FAO at national and international forums relevant to agriculture and food security.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Agriculture, Food Security, Rural Development, or a related field.
- Substantial professional experience in project management and coordination, preferably within the UN system or international organizations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the agricultural sector and development challenges in Malawi or similar contexts.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
