Children of the Nations (COTN) – Malawi is a Christian organisation committed to “Raising Children Who Transform Nations.” COTN Malawi is seeking a dynamic, experienced and values-driven Country Director to provide strategic leadership and overall management of the organisation in Malawi.

The Country Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to COTN Malawi in accordance with the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic plan and policies, working closely with the Board of Trustees and the COTN International Office.

The successful candidate will provide overall oversight of COTN’s programmes and operations, including strategic planning, programme management, financial management, human resources, resource mobilisation, risk management, safeguarding, stakeholder engagement and organisational development.

As a Christian organisation, COTN is seeking a mature Christian who demonstrates a genuine personal commitment to the Christian faith and values, is in good standing with the church, and is committed to COTN’s mission and values.

Key Duties

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to COTN Malawi.
• Ensure alignment with the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic plan and policies.
• Work closely with the Board of Trustees and the COTN International Office.
• Provide overall oversight of COTN’s programmes and operations.
• Oversee strategic planning, programme management, financial management, human resources, resource mobilisation, risk management, safeguarding, stakeholder engagement and organisational development.
• Lead and manage change and organisational improvement.
• Motivate, coach and develop staff.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Development Studies or a relevant field.
• A professional qualification in management, finance, accounting or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience at senior management level.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, organisational and operational management.
• Experience in programme management, financial management, budgeting and resource mobilisation.
• Experience in Human Resources management and staff development.
• Experience working with children and/or vulnerable populations, with a sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
• Experience working with national or international NGOs, development partners and other stakeholders.
• Experience working effectively in a multicultural and cross-cultural environment.
• Strong strategic leadership and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong financial and business management awareness.
• High levels of integrity, maturity, accountability and professionalism.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Board, staff, donors, government and other stakeholders.
• A results-oriented and self-motivated approach.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• A valid driving licence.
• A mature Christian who demonstrates a genuine personal commitment to the Christian faith and values, is in good standing with the church, and is committed to COTN’s mission and values.
