Unitrans Malawi Limited, a leading employer in the sugar and agriculture sectors, seeks a qualified Malawian national to fill a vacant position at its Dwangwa Depot in Nkhota-kota.
Position: Air-Con and Refrigeration Mechanic
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Inspecting and diagnosing issues within vehicle and office air conditioning systems.
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs on air-con systems.
- Installing new air conditioning systems in both company offices and vehicles.
- Utilizing hand and power tools for the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration systems.
- Staying current with advancements and new technologies in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
- Adhering to and maintaining all safety and health requirements at all times.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- A Grade 1 National Trade Test Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or its equivalent. Completion of a refrigeration mechanic apprenticeship program or equivalent experience is also required.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a similar role within a busy organization.
- Knowledge of agricultural and vehicle air conditioning systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts and with minimal supervision.
