The Environmental and Economic Resource Centre (EERC) is a non-profit scientific research organization. Working with local and international partners, EERC aims to foster inclusive agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, natural resource conservation, and environmental management across Africa. The organization conducts research and capacity-building initiatives to develop policies, scalable technologies, and innovative practices focused on poverty reduction, food security, ecosystem health, and livelihood development. EERC operates programs in agriculture and environmental management, natural resource conservation, livelihood and economic development, and human resource and capacity building, covering topics such as climate-smart agriculture, food systems, climate finance, and gender inclusion.
EERC is inviting qualified candidates for a three-month, results-oriented research internship as part of its 2026 Internship Call. The aim is to strengthen evidence-based research in Malawi’s agricultural sector, identifying strategic areas, research priorities, and investment opportunities, with a focus on agriculture and the environment. Interns will work under the supervision of an experienced researcher, conducting research aligned with national strategic documents to support EERC programs in Malawi. Applicants are required to propose a research project (max 3 pages) feasible for completion within the internship duration. This is a fully remote opportunity, but interns may occasionally be requested to support field-related activities in Zomba, Blantyre, and Lilongwe Districts. This opportunity is exclusively open to applicants currently residing in Malawi.
