Territory Retail Sales & Distribution Manager
JOB PURPOSE: This role is responsible for overseeing all territory retail sales and distribution initiatives. You will manage and mentor distributors, channel partners, and teams focused on subscriber acquisition and retention. Key duties include fostering strong dealer relationships, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring targets for revenue, quality gross additions, and market share are consistently met or exceeded. You will also continuously monitor sales and distribution performance against strategic business objectives within your assigned territory.
POSITION LOCATIONS: Mangochi and Mzuzu (2 positions available)
Key Responsibilities
- Business Performance: Drive achievement of subscriber volume, retail revenue, and market share objectives as outlined in the territory's Business Plan. Manage retail sales budgets effectively to ensure financial targets are met.
- Business Plan Execution: Lead the execution of annual territorial retail and distribution Business Plans, focusing on revenue growth. Attain territory sales targets for Voice, Data, and Airtel Money business lines. Meet territory EVD sales contribution targets.
- Subscriber, Retailer, and Agent Acquisition: Secure quality gross additions for the territory. Recruit new Voice, Airtel Money, and Data retailers and agents. Implement effective door-to-door retailer and franchisee management strategies within the territory.
- Distribution and Serviceability: Ensure optimal product availability and service delivery across the territory. Develop, deploy, and manage distributor networks, Wholesalers, and Strategic Supply Depots (SSDs).
- New Channel Development: Identify and cultivate new trade channels. Explore and develop branding opportunities.
- Trade Development: Enhance brand visibility within your designated zone. Implement POS rollouts according to established standards and trade marketing guidelines. Execute trade and consumer promotions effectively.
- Training and Development: Provide on-the-job coaching and development for distributor sales representatives (DSRs), sales supervisors (SSOs), ISPs, and Brand Ambassadors.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit timely, accurate management reports detailing the sales zone's performance against company objectives and operational benchmarks for both team and individual targets.
- Market Intelligence: Furnish management with regular market intelligence and insights on competitor developments. Demonstrate adaptability to changing environments and priorities in alignment with company goals.
- Visibility: Ensure all outlets are prominently visible and merchandised to the standards defined in the Route to Market specifications.
- Customer Appreciation: Maintain strong dealer relationships and implement customer appreciation programs as per the annual plan.
Qualifications and Skills
JOB REQUIREMENT / QUALIFICATION:
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in sales and distribution, ideally within the FMCG sector with exposure to multiple channels.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Sales, Marketing, or a related Business Field, from a recognized institution.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of mobile telephony and the dynamics of the telecommunication industry.
