Campus Director – MoRe Malawi DZALANYAMA CAMPUS

The MoRe Project is an extensive, long-term initiative (approximately 40 years) focused on forest restoration and sustainable development in Malawi. The project's objective is to restore 555,000 hectares of degraded land via reforestation, agroforestry, and assisted natural regeneration, actively involving local communities. Through this strategy, MoRe seeks to deliver enduring environmental, social, and economic benefits, enhancing ecological resilience and community well-being.
Role Description:
The Campus Director will oversee the comprehensive management, coordination, and operational performance of the MoRe Malawi DZALANYAMA CAMPUS. This includes ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely operation of its infrastructure, accommodation, offices, industrial and common areas, and support services, all in alignment with the project's requirements.
This senior role demands a highly analytical and hands-on professional capable of integrating facilities management, administration, logistics, maintenance, procurement support, cost control, service provider management, and team coordination.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively within Malawi's complex and multicultural environment are essential.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall planning, organization, and daily management of the MoRe Malawi DZALANYAMA CAMPUS.
- Ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of Campus buildings, offices, accommodation facilities, common areas, nurseries, utilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate Campus support services, including accommodation, catering, cleaning, laundry, waste management, utilities, access control, and general facilities upkeep.
- Develop and manage the Campus operational budget, ensuring rigorous oversight of costs, commitments, and expenditures.
- Analyze operational and financial data, identify trends, and propose practical strategies for improving service quality, efficiency, and cost control.
- Plan Campus capacity and resource requirements based on project mobilization, workforce levels, and operational needs.
- Manage Campus suppliers, contractors, and service providers, ensuring adherence to agreed scope, service levels, costs, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
- Establish preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for Campus infrastructure, facilities, and technical systems.
- Monitor the reliability and consumption of water, electricity, fuel, and other utilities, proposing efficiency measures and contingency plans as needed.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, Equipment, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality), and Security departments.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and business continuity arrangements relevant to Campus operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Campus operations, project management, and various operational departments.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, including significant responsibility for managing facilities, camps, or compounds.
- Proven senior management experience in sectors such as construction, infrastructure, forestry, or industrial operations.
- Demonstrated professional experience working in Africa and in remote or operationally challenging locations.
- Strong knowledge of SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical capabilities, with demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, KPI monitoring, and management reporting.
- Experience in managing contractors, suppliers, service-level agreements, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in multicultural environments.
- Mandatory fluency in English; Portuguese proficiency would be an advantage.
- Possession of a valid international driving license.
- Availability to reside and work in Malawi, with willingness to travel to other project locations as required.
