IT Infrastructure Officer
Castel Malawi Limited is seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure Officer to manage and maintain the core of our technology systems. This position is central to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our IT environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive support, configuration, and operation of our IT infrastructure. This includes Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), servers, computers, and storage systems like NAS/SAN, along with their associated operating systems. A key focus of this role is to uphold system availability and performance while adhering to organizational standards and global security policies.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Infrastructure and Helpdesk Manager, the IT Infrastructure Officer will perform the following duties:
- Guarantee the security, high performance, and continuous availability of both Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), including all network hardware and connectivity services.
- Administer, support, and maintain all computers, servers, and related computing environments, encompassing NAS, SAN, operating systems, and administrative system configurations.
- Execute daily data backups for all applications and ensure the backup register is diligently updated after each operation.
- Deliver comprehensive user support across all IT systems, which includes performance monitoring and tuning, user training on applications, and troubleshooting fundamental hardware and software issues.
- Perform regular software audits to confirm that no user terminal is operating with software that is not approved under the Castel Malawi IT Operating Model.
- Implement and enforce system and network policies that align with company standards and international security requirements.
- Develop and propose training materials for internal staff and collaborate with relevant authorities to review trainee progress.
- Recommend improvements to system and network configurations and determine the hardware or software needs associated with these changes.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable role within a fast-paced setting, preferably in the FMCG industry.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of both Windows and Linux-based systems.
- A solid understanding of virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity and practical experience with ITIL frameworks.
- Knowledge of fundamental network routing and switching principles.
- The capacity to comprehend and enhance LAN/WAN technologies.
