With operations in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, the organization is a key provider of tertiary and community-based mental health services, early intervention, inclusive education for children with disabilities, vocational training, elderly care, psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and university-level training in health-related disciplines.

Mental Health Clinical Officer

Position Overview

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Mental Health Clinical Officer will provide comprehensive mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments and diagnose psychiatric conditions
• Develop and implement treatment and care plans
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in line with guidelines
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Clinical Medicine with specialization in Mental Health or Psychiatry
• Registration with the relevant Medical or Clinical Officers Council
• Valid practicing license
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health services
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings is an added advantage
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• Willingness to work with people with mental health conditions
• Commitment to the organization’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
