Mission and Objectives:

The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) is a statutory body mandated to coordinate, promote, support, and advocate for youth development initiatives across Malawi. As the foremost institution for youth affairs, NYCOM strives to empower young people by creating avenues for participation, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, skills development, and socio-economic advancement. Through strategic collaborations with government, development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector, NYCOM champions policies and programs that enhance the welfare and potential of Malawi’s youth. The Council acts as a platform to amplify youth voices, ensuring their active engagement in national development processes and decision-making. Our core mission is to empower and inspire young people to become productive, responsible, and transformative citizens contributing significantly to Malawi's sustainable development.

Context:

The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) is organizing the 2026 National Youth Summit, a pivotal event designed to foster investment, build partnerships, and identify scalable solutions for youth employment and innovation, aligning with Malawi 2063. To ensure a professional and unified brand identity, high-quality visual materials are required for both online and offline publicity campaigns. These finalized designs will be utilized across all NYCOM online channels, in partner communications, and during the summit itself to maximize visibility and impact.

Task Type: Communication and Social Media

Task Description:

We are seeking five (5) online volunteers to manage our primary social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok). Each volunteer will be assigned one platform and will be responsible for developing strategic content to highlight our activities, expand our reach, and engage a diverse global audience, with a particular focus on millennials. Volunteers will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with the Media and Publicity Committee to develop and implement a content calendar.
  • Create and publish compelling content, including:
    • Announcements for participation (Delegates, Exhibitors, Speakers, Volunteers).
    • Promotional campaigns (e.g., Speaker announcements, Partner spotlights, testimonials like "Why I Am Attending").
    • Countdown features and behind-the-scenes content (videos, photos, stories).
  • Manage the summit's official hashtag and actively monitor online discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with other volunteers to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Submit weekly reports detailing engagement metrics (reach, impressions, feedback). Each volunteer is expected to produce 3-5 posts per week, utilizing information and raw materials (such as photos and key messages) provided by the committee.

Assignment Requirements

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience as a social media manager or digital content creator.
  • A creative ability to develop engaging and attractive content for various social media channels.
  • Experience in planning and executing online campaigns, including analyzing their effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.
  • A strong passion for youth development, economic empowerment, and social impact is highly valued.
