Assistant Linesperson (433 Positions)

About

ESCOM Ltd is seeking 433 Assistant Linespersons. The primary purpose of this role is to carry out construction, maintenance, and operational duties on the distribution and transmission networks.

Key Duties (whilst on training)

• Conducting corridor and pole base clearing.
• Performing line patrols for defects and data collection.
• Loading and offloading materials.
• Dressing structures.
• Replacing defective structures and accessories.
• Excavating pole holes and trenches.
• Issuing notices prior to planned outages.
• Ensuring proper care of working tools.
• Adhering to safety and construction standards.

Qualifications

• Malawi School Certificate of Education.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.
• Candidates who have previously worked for ESCOM on a seasonal or temporary basis for a minimum of 12 months, and separated without disciplinary issues, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Training & Appointment Note

Selected candidates will undergo a 6-month training program. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will sit for the Power Linesperson Certificate Examination. Only those who pass this examination will be appointed to a substantive Assistant Power Linesperson position (Grade ES13). Unsuccessful candidates will be released immediately.
