About Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc
Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is the country's leading producer of raw, refined, and specialty sugars, employing over 9000 people. It is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project scopes, work plans, and technical specifications for housing projects.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, housing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project implementation, including design, procurement, and construction.
- Coordinate and prepare medium- to long-term housing capital plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, issues, and ensure adherence to SHEQ standards.
- Supervise contractors and ensure quality control, cost management, and timely delivery.
- Measure and report on project progress, performance, and expenditure.
- Provide technical leadership and ensure statutory and legal compliance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Engineering, with postgraduate education in Project Management or professional registration.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in housing construction and estate development.
- Strong skills in budget control, FIDIC contract administration, BDL requirements, and technical drawing.
- Proficiency in basic construction and project management tools, including Microsoft Project for scheduling, AutoCAD for technical drawings, and preferable Revit or Civil 3D for design and modeling.
- Strong cost control and reporting skills, familiar with quantity surveying tools such as CostX.
