About
Lotus Africa is seeking a qualified and motivated Radiation Technician for its Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga. Reporting to the SHR Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the company's compliance with its Radiation Plan. The position also offers practical training in geology, sampling procedures, geological software, and radiation safety, emphasizing data accuracy, safety, and teamwork within the mine's operational context. All employees are expected to strictly adhere to company safety policies and environmental regulations to minimize impact on the natural environment.
Key Duties
- Provide technical advice and assistance on Radiation Management to all departments.
- Conduct radiation monitoring programs within the plant under the direction of the SHR Supervisor.
- Ensure accurate calibration of all technical equipment.
- Assist with testing and decontamination for the transportation of radioactive materials.
- Maintain comprehensive registers for all radioactive sources and irradiating apparatus.
- Determine and monitor radiation levels for designated and non-designated workers.
- Conduct inductions for employees, visitors, and contractors regarding radiation exposure.
- Inspect shipment drums, log data, and communicate summaries for transportation clearance.
- Escort Uranium transportation.
- Perform other duties as required by the SHR Supervisor.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience
- Diploma in Chemistry or Physics.
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Working knowledge of local regulations and legislation pertaining to the management of radioactive minerals.

- Working knowledge of International Atomic Energy Regulation Authority (AERA).
- Working knowledge of International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
