About the Role
April's is seeking an experienced Consultant Product Formulation Chemist to support the formulation, improvement, and optimization of personal and home care products, including shampoos, hand washes, dishwashing liquids, and other detergents. This consultancy role emphasizes technical expertise, formulation guidance, and problem-solving, rather than direct production supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine product formulations for personal and home care items.
- Provide expert advice on chemical selection, ratios, and raw material sourcing.
- Enhance product performance, stability, safety, and cost-efficiency.
- Manage or guide formulation testing and stability assessments.
- Address and resolve formulation or quality issues during product scale-up or production.
- Ensure all formulations comply with safety and regulatory standards.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and formulation guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A strong academic background in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in product formulation, specifically for cosmetics and/or detergents.
- In-depth knowledge of surfactants, preservatives, fragrances, thickeners, and active ingredients.
- Previous experience in a consulting or advisory role is considered an advantage.
Key Competencies
- Proven hands-on formulation expertise.
- A practical, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and provide clear technical guidance.
- Experience working with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) or within manufacturing environments is a plus.
Engagement Details
This is a consultancy/contract-based role offering a flexible working arrangement. It can be project-based or retainer-based, with support provided either on-site or remotely, as mutually agreed.
