SOLUTION ARCHITECT

NICO Technologies has a vacancy for a Solution Architect, tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre. This is a junior management role responsible for supporting the design and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions, working under the guidance of senior technical leadership, and collaborating closely with business, development, Quality Assurance, and UI/UX teams.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent’s key responsibilities shall, amongst others, include:

• Design and document solution architectures based on approved business and functional requirements.

• Translate business and customer needs into practical, secure, and scalable technical solutions.

• Support the application of solution architecture standards, patterns, and guidelines.

• Participate in design reviews and provide architectural input during solution delivery.

• Support development teams by clarifying architecture decisions and resolving design issues.

• Assist with design and governance of system integrations and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

• Identify and escalate architectural, technical, and security risks to senior leadership.

• Ensure solutions comply with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, Quality Assurance, and UI/UX teams.

• Support engagement with vendors and external customers on solution design matters.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture practices and documentation.

Required Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• Foundational solution design and architecture skills.

• Good understanding of applications, data flows, and system integration.

• Knowledge of secure system design principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.

• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Willingness to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Postgraduate qualification or certification in Solution Architecture or Cloud Technologies will be an added advantage.

• At least three to five years’ experience in systems development, technical design, or related roles.

• Exposure to solution architecture or system integration work is desirable.

• Experience working in a regulated or enterprise environment will be an added advantage.
