POSITION: INVESTMENT RESEARCH INTERN
Location: Blantyre
Internship Period: August – January Cohort (6 Months)

OVERVIEW

Beta Trust, an investment trust with a long-term vision, focuses on building a diversified and resilient portfolio encompassing public equities, private equity, and commercial real estate. Through disciplined capital allocation and rigorous research, the Trust aims to generate sustainable value across asset classes. We are currently inviting applications from highly motivated and analytically strong candidates to join our Investment Research Internship Program.

This internship offers a six (6) month duration, commencing on 10 August 2026, subject to satisfactory performance. The internship will be based in Blantyre, Malawi.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Investment Research Intern will collaborate closely with the investment team, conducting macroeconomic and sectoral research, analyzing economic and market data, and producing professional reports to inform investment and strategic decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in comprehensive macroeconomic research, including the analysis of GDP growth, inflation, and interest rates.


• Support the tracking of fiscal and monetary policy developments and their potential impact on the Trust’s investments.


• Help analyze sector- and industry-specific economic trends relevant to identifying investment opportunities.


• Aid in maintaining and organizing economic data, reports, and research documentation.


• Support the preparation of research briefs, economic reports, and presentations for internal review.


• Contribute to modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis under the guidance of senior analysts.


• Participate in discussions and analyses of economic events and their implications for sectoral investment opportunities.


• Assist with strategic research projects and other ad hoc economic studies as assigned by senior analysts.


• Uphold the confidentiality of proprietary economic and financial information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields from an accredited university:

• Economics


• Banking and Finance


• Finance


• Development Economics


• Investment Management


• Business Administration (with a Finance Specialization)

While prior work experience is not a prerequisite, candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
