AHF Malawi, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, is recruiting for temporary positions to support HIV, TB, and STI treatment programs. We invite applications for the following roles:
Temporary HIV Diagnostic Assistant – 10 Positions
Contract Duration: 3 months, with potential for extension.
Duty Stations:
- Lilongwe district: Chinsapo HC, Kang’oma HC
- Dedza district: Mphathi HC, Kafere HC
- Ntcheu district: Nzama HC
- Nsanje district: Mbenje HC, Nsanje Hospital
- Thyolo district: Njale HC, Lomola HC, Thowela HC
Role Summary: These assistants will promote and conduct HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) at both facility and community levels, focusing on scaling up Provider-Initiated Testing and Care (PITC) with an emphasis on Index Testing. The role includes facilitating linkage to treatment and support services.
Key Duties:
- Administer rapid HIV tests through the HIV department and PITC, prioritizing Index Testing.
- Achieve a minimum client-to-contact ratio of 1:4 for Index Testing.
- Ensure 95% of index contacts are tested, with 30% of all tests conducted via index testing.
- Link all HIV-positive clients to care and ensure timely data entry and updates in the web portal.
- Maintain accurate records of test results in registers.
- Adhere to national clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Ensure functional referral systems and proper documentation using Ministry of Health HTS tools.
Qualifications:
- Certified HIV Diagnostic Assistant with Index Testing Training.
- Malawi School Leaving Certificate (MSCE).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HIV prevention, counseling, and testing, with a focus on Index Testing.
Temporary Data Clerk – 7 Positions
Contract Duration: 3 months, with potential for extension.
Duty Stations:
- Lilongwe district: Chilinde HC, Blessings Hospital
- Nkhotakota district: Kapiri HC
- Chikwawa district: Gaga HC, Nkumaniza HC
- Nsanje district: Nsanje Hospital, Ndamera HC
Role Summary: Data Clerks will support data management at health center levels by ensuring accurate collection, entry, validation, and timely reporting of data in accordance with AHF and national standards.
Key Duties:
- Maintain precise, complete, and secure records for HIV programs.
- Perform data entry, filing, archiving, and retrieval for both electronic and paper-based systems.
- Ensure the availability and correct use of standardized data collection and reporting tools.
- Compile and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and benchmark reports.
- Capture and update data in Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), web-based systems, and Excel databases.
- Track missed appointments and defaulters to enhance tracing and retention efforts.
- Monitor HIV-positive clients by documenting referrals and tracking linkage and treatment outcomes.
- Provide technical support to facilities regarding data processes.
- Participate in data review meetings for verification and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Information Technology, Information Management, Data Processing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data entry/data management, preferably within HIV/AIDS or public health programs.
- Certification in Data Management or Information Processing is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word).
- Demonstrated accuracy of ≥99%, strong attention to detail, and adherence to data quality standards.
- Knowledge of HIV program indicators and familiarity with EMRs, HMIS, or DHIS2 is beneficial.
- High integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive health data.
