JOB VACANCY – SECURITY OFFICER

Position: Security Officer (1)

Location: Estates in Mulanje & Thyolo

Start Date: 1st December, 2026

Contract Period: 2 years (Renewable)

A prominent integrated tea and macadamia production agribusiness, with operations spanning Mulanje and Thyolo, is actively seeking to appoint one qualified Security Officer. This role will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager.

General Description of the Role

The Security Officer will oversee the comprehensive security and safety of the Company. Key responsibilities include the development and implementation of robust security protocols, procedures, and policies. This role also entails the planning and coordination of security operations in close collaboration with the broader security team, with the overarching objective of fostering a secure environment for all personnel and company assets.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage, supervise, and coordinate security personnel across all company properties and estate establishments to ensure continuous protection of assets.


• Conduct routine patrols of interior and exterior premises to establish and maintain effective security controls.


• Deliver security drills and training to security guards, focusing on procedures, emergency response, and threat mitigation to minimize incidents.


• Assist in the management of security equipment and vehicles, reporting any faults promptly to ensure uninterrupted operations.


• Support the recruitment process for Security Guards at estate establishments, ensuring adherence to company procedures and the selection of qualified personnel.


• Record and report incidents to local Police, obtain Criminal Record (CR) numbers, and follow up on cases to ensure legal resolution.


• Submit bi-weekly reports to management, detailing all incidents, CR numbers, and prosecution outcomes for each case.


• Represent the Company in security-related meetings to facilitate collaboration with stakeholders on industry security matters.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualification:

• Bachelor's (BSc) degree in Security Studies or a minimum of a Diploma in Security Studies.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a registered and established Security Agency is required.


• Must possess exceptional ethical standards, demonstrate honesty, and be highly motivated, with the ability to work independently.


• Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel) and fluency in both Chichewa and English are essential.


• Exceptional leadership and outstanding surveillance skills are necessary.


• Strong security management and emergency response capabilities are paramount.


• Willingness to work diligently, a self-motivated attitude, and the capacity to manage a team are vital.


• Ability to train and motivate staff to enhance their skills is expected.


• Readiness to work extended hours as required by workload.


• Excellent surveillance and emergency response skills are a must.


• Demonstrate a strong commitment to security regulations and a thorough understanding of potential hazards and safety threats.


• Must be an individual of high ethical standards, honest, and well-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.


• Ability to ride a motorcycle and possess a valid motorcycle license.
